Poppies

Sometimes when I am supposed to be doing something else I get distracted with an idea and I have to do it immediately!  Today some bits of chiffon, floss and fire resulted in poppies!!  Hip hip!

Baby Shower Shenanigans

One of my very best gal-pals had a baby shower this last weekend so I of course was busy with crafty baby things.  I organized a "baby relay" game with four dolls from my childhood and it absolutely cracked me up!  In the relay we changed the babies, clothed, swaddled, and sang to them.  It was hillllarious!

I of course wanted to make something for the sweet baby girl and knew immediately that I would make something using very special fabric.  I found this Simplicity pattern and knew it would be "purrrr-fect."

HAHA! You've got to be kitten me right meow.  I cat believe it!  Hahaha!  At first the dress looks adorable...then you realize there are kittens and bears and clowns staring at you!  I'm a really good friend.

An Apron and An Adventure

This weekend I was able to finish an apron that I had on my table for a couple weeks.  YAY!  I was experimenting with ruffles and a secret pocket!  I wanted to make a frilly apron with a simple color pallet.

Success!

Is that a pocket under your ruffle!?  Hahaha...yes.

I wanted a place for my phone or perhaps some delicious snacks.

I was also able to get in a little winter adventure!  Hip hip!  Nothin' like a little shed sesh in the Mississippi River Valley.  Seriously get a load of this view!!  Trains usually cruse by right before the river.  The craziest thing about snowboarding in the midwest is that you start at the top and shred down, then take the lift up.  Such a fun day!

The Brights

Hello Friends!!  With the grey skies of winter in full force here...sans heaps of snow {to my dismay}...I find that I crave the cheerfulness of bold bright colors.  Orange, teal, yellow and pink are my current favs.  I absolutely love how a splash of bright color adds heaps of fun and spunk to a simple piece of clothing or outfit.  The throwback style of the classic hiking shoe with a modern pop of color is such a rad combo.  OH and ORANGE I love you especially, so bright and cheery!

I mustache you a question...do you crave colors too?  Orange ya glad I asked!?  BAH HAHAHA!  You've got to be kitten me!

Cornfusion Board Design

For the last year or so my husband Colin and I have been enjoying a little side biz we started called:

We build and paint custom high-quality American Cornhole Association Certified cornhole boards and bags!  After giving a few sets as gifts we got such a great response that it encouraged us to start a business.

We construct our boards and bags as directed by the ACA.  Our frames are built using half-blind dovetail joints and the decks are secured using pocket-hole joinery.  Another fun construction detail that sets our boards apart are our custom scoreboards and cup-holders we integrated in the legs on both boards.  This unique scoring system eliminates any "CORNFUSION" during game-play!

We sew and hand-dye our bags.  We make them from 12oz duck canvas that is extremely durable and we fill them with dried corn from local farmers.

Hey Bob Ross!!!

Alien Boards donated for a benefit.

Sweet legs with integrated scoreboards and cup-holders!

 Birch Tree Boards

Breast Cancer Boards donated for a local benefit.  You can barely see it but there is gold glitter in the topcoat for some sass!

Buffalo!

This one was a blast to paint!!  Cornhole boards def don't have to sports related!

Ohhhhh the drips on this board....I just love them so so so much!!

This is an extremely fun style that we have totally been diggin' lately!  Using a combo of paint and stains to create a neat look!

In addition to the great construction, each and every board is hand-painted or stained...no decals!  We work with each client to figure out a super fun design.  We love the challenge of coming up with new original designs!  If you would like to learn more or order a set check out our website CornfusionBoardDesign.

Have a nice Tuesday!!

Hello!

Welcome Friends to The Delightful Buffalo Blog!!!

I am awfully excited to start blogging again. I knew that this go-around I wanted this space to quite simply feel more true to me. You may be thinking "you feel like a 'Delightful Buffalo'? That is hilarious! But seriously, where did that come from!?" In my quest to make this space more "Megan" I made an extra long, hysterical, list of words before I had my eureka moment. I came to realize that I use the word 'delightful' constantly, so that was a no-brainer. Later I had an absurd dream that led me to reminisce about a comical dream I had as a tot. Spending time growing up in the 'Cowboy State' it was extremely common to see roaming buffalo. At the time we lived in a house that faced a beautiful reservoir surrounded by sage brush. I dreamt that the reservoir had a fun playground smack in the middle of it. On one side of the playground there was a diving board that extended over the reservoir, which was actually not water at all but soupy mud. Well wouldn't ya know it, a herd of buffalo were frolicking about and taking turns jumping off the diving board into the mud!! Thus, The Delightful Buffalo was born. Haha! Funny right!?!

In any case, this will be a swell little place that houses my eclectic collection of inspirations and adventures in creativity and the outdoors. It will include, but not limited to: great design, vintage finds, aprons, biking, sewing, painting, squirrels, home projects, delicious snacks, gardening, golf, adventures, kittens, snowboarding, Wrigley the dog, camping, buffalo, and ME!

It's my hope that this blog will feel like hanging out with a great friend on a warm sunny day.  We'll chat about adventures, inspirations, creative projects, and do some good old fashion reminiscing. Thank you so much for stopping by!

 Love ya bunches!
