Holly Jolly Frosted Goodness

It isn't the holidays without some sort of baking!  This year has been a little 'nutty' (ha! ba-doomp-chank) so I baked-up some squirrel sugar cookies!
Can you feel the love!?

Also, my NEW favorite Christmas song re-mix!

Goodwill Lamp Before and After

I purchased 2 lamps at Goodwill and transformed them to some sweet new lamps!

I changed the biased tape to black and it looked TONS better!
The neighbor cat was watching me perched on his fence.

Ashtray Upgrade

Upon an impromptu stroll through Goodwill I came across this cute little glass ashtray.  I'm not a smoker but I thought it would be a fun cheap way for the visiting smokers to have a place for their butts.  Then if they quit smoking I have a happy little dish for things-n-such!  I used cotton fabric and the mod podge.  When that dried I used a spray sealer on the fabric to finish-er off.

Baby Shower in a BOX!

My best friend from grade school Lindsey recently had a baby. I wasn't able to make the baby shower so my solution...Baby Shower in a box!

Growing up Lindsey and I would go to either of our houses and we would "craft."  We would make alllll sorts of things like friendship bracelets, magnets, doll house furniture, book marks...etc.  It seemed only fitting that I include in the box something hillarious and reminiscent of our childhood.

My idea: try and recreate a doll my mom and I made a long time ago from the book Gifts Kids Can Make by Sheila McGraw.   (The doll in the top left of the book is what it is actually supposed to look like!)  These dolls are made out of pantyhose and poly-fil.
The first doll my mom and I made has given us many laughs over the years.  She was even kind enough to mail it to me in a care package at college!

Happy Birthday Me!

Ok so I'm a day late 'cause my birthday was actually yesterday.

What happened to November!?!  Last month was probably the busiest month I've had in a loooong time!  Alas, I have accomplished a ton of work projects, fun artsy projects and house projects that I can't wait to share with you!!

First up the Birthday DONUT... and friends!!

What better way to start off the day than a frosted cake donut with SPRINKLES!  My boyfriend Colin gave me the most gnarly FirsTurn Soft Shell Jacket from Cloudveil!!!  I adore it!!

Random side-note:  Green is my signature color.

I scurried up to a small local book store for some java and to peruse the sewing books and came home with this gem, A is for Apron, 25 fresh & flirty designs by Nathalie Mornu!!  I have been so fascinated by aprons this last year.  I love going to antique stores and finding all sorts of vintage aprons!  I love the opportunity to take a step back in time.

My bff Mandy...or best known as Mandizzle sent me Green Guide for Artists, Non toxic recipes, green art ideas & resources for the eco-conscious artist by Karen Michel.  Such a fun book I can't wait to try some of the fun recipes!

Twas a delightful birthday!!
Have a fantastic Friday!!

Graffiti

As to be expected when moving into a new house, the last few weeks have been crazy!  Last Friday I finally finished painting the studio/office and unpacked all my artsy fun-ness!  It feels really great to have a space to create! When I'm not busy with yard work and other such housely duties I have been readin' up on graffiti.  I've always been attracted to this style of art.  Graffiti is messy and raw and in your face.  Oh and the colors!!!  Sooo many gloriously gnarly colors!

Here are a couple of books I've been inspired by lately.

This book is more of a how-to.  Scape provides tons of graphic info on the basics of graffiti while providing tidbits of graffiti history.

This book is just straight-up inspiring.  There is sooooo much great art from all across the world, by women of diverse backgrounds.

Feel da flow.  Rock wit it.

i heart cornhole!!

I just moved into a new house almost a month ago and have been super busy unpacking, cleaning, painting walls, moving furniture around...blah blah blah.  whew!  I am super pumped because I just finished painting my super rad little studio room!  I can't wait to get things organized and out of boxes so I can get my art on!

Since I haven't done much creating due to the cardboard castles, I thought I'd share a project I completed just before the move.  This project was inspired by an online class I took with Alisa Burke called Graffiti Chic.  First online art class I've ever taken and it was such a blast!!  I highly recommend this class to anyone at any level of artistic ability.  Unleash your wild creative side!!

i heart cornhole!!!

My first dabbling with graffiti and the impromptu kitchen table studio!

Happy Pre-Friday Friends!!

Crab-Gut Jelly

Crab-Gut Jelly...eww...GROSS...or is it!?

The CGJ concept:

Life presents one with a gazillion opportunities. Some opportunities are easy and fun and just fit, while others are scary and perhaps a smidge intimidating... [Insert Crab-Gut Jelly].  By Crab-Gut Jelly I mean that I am getting ready to bite into something that I have never tried in my life! Something that is a bit intimidating and a bit scary, but something that has the potential to be the best thing I have ever tasted! There is no way of knowing unless I take that bite. Thus, I have decided to take a big ol' bite of that Crab-Gut Jelly! Ok...well perhaps it might just be a nibble.

Crab-Gut Jelly for me is starting this blog and the beginning of my adventure to further develop ‘Megan the Artist’ and perhaps ‘Megan the Online Artist!!’ I haven’t focused entirely in one medium yet because there are so many out there that I love and that is where Sprinkles of Creativity comes in! Since I see myself as random and spunky and always attracted to bright colors and donuts with sprinkles the title is quite fitting. My intention for this blog-diggity is to have a place for my muse to huck ideas, thoughts and inspirations.

Megan and the Donut:
A Delicious Adventure!!

Welcome to my adventure!!!  Feel free to share your thoughts and comments!!  Have a frickin' fantastic FRIDAY!
